Centra – Staying in Touch with your Students

Centra is a web conferencing learning management system that provides a virtual classroom using live and recorded sessions. It provides voice and video communication with your students in a structured online learning environment replicating a traditional classroom. AO offers a  training course that is not only designed to help you effectively use the tools available in Centra, but also to help show you how to best integrate Centra in your course. You will learn how to use the whiteboard, load media & presentations, share web sites & applications as well as survey your students with the click of a mouse. They will discuss best practices for controlling the flow of discussion in the Centra environment as well as how best to implement Centra for your unique needs.  Go to One Stop and sign up for one of their classes or contact OET and we will be glad to set up a class here at CAHS.

Mediasite not just for Distance Learning

Do you teach a hybrid course with both in-class students and distance students?  Would you like to give the distance students the same experience as the in-class students?  Would you like to add in-class experience to your Blackboard class?  No distance students, you say?  Well, would you like for your in-class students to be able to review the lectures as they study?  You’ll need our 800pound gorilla for this.  Her name is Mediasite and she can do it all.  Let us introduce you.

Check out various ways you can use the Mediasite recordings that can be made in many of our classrooms here at CAHS.

Office 2007 in Summer 2009

What better time to update to Office 2007 then during the summer.  The OET will be happy to assist with the upgrade and any training you need.  The first step in upgrading is to contact the Help Desk with a request for Office 2007, their number is 328-9866.  You can find various training links and information in the OET’s Blackboard course in which you are enrolled as a student.  Check it out!
