Talking about apps, here are some tips that some of you might not know

Every so often I come across something that I think everyone knows but just in case here are some iPad tips!

Helpful Hint:  How to copy and paste.

Tap and hold finger over area/item to copy.  A copy dialogue option will appear.

Expand the selection handles over the entire area of text to copy.

Tap to paste.

Helpful Hint:  How to take a screen shot (screen capture).

To capture the screen image or take a screenshot on your iPad, just press and hold the Home button and then press the On/Off button at the top of the device so that you are holding down both buttons simultaneously for a brief second.  The iPad screen will flash and the image will be automatically saved and stored in the photos area.

Helpful Hint:  How to lock screen orientation (portrait or landscape).

Start by holding the iPad in the direction you’d like to lock it, and then press the Home button twice quickly, like a double-click.  The new task switcher will show up at the bottom of the screen, and then you’ll want to slide your finger over to the right to access the new screen hidden on the left.  Once you can see the new screen, click the button on the bottom left-hand side of the screen, and it will lock.

Helpful Hint:  How to delete an icon.

First, tap and hold the icon until all of the icons on the screen are jiggling. Simply tap the “x” button to delete an app. Don’t worry about accidentally deleting an app. The iPad will confirm your choice before the app is actually deleted.  Apps that do not have an “x” button cannot be deleted.  They are the icons that are default applications that come installled on the Ipad.

Helpful Hint:  How to force restart the iPad. (Use in case your iPad should freeze.)

Just to ease your mind – forcing your iPad to restart will not cause any loss of data – with the possible exception of any work you were doing at the time the iPad and/or appfroze, forcing you to reboot it.  Click and hold down the Sleep/Wake button (located on the upper-right corner of your iPad). While you’re holding down the Sleep/Wake button, hold down the Home button as well (located on the front of your iPad at the bottom).  Hold down both buttons until your iPad powers off. It will reboot and start again with a small silver Apple image on the screen. It takes about 30 seconds for the iPad completely start up. Hold down both buttons until your iPad powers off. Helpful Hint:  How to create folders.

Start out by deciding which Apps you want to put into your new folder.  Tap and hold down the first App you want to add to the folder, then drag-and-drop it onto another App you want in the same folder.  A new window will pop up with a name section for your new folder.  If you want to change the default name on the folder, tap the small “x” in the name field.  The keyboard will pop up and you can give your folder a custom name.  Tap anywhere on the screen to complete the naming process. Now continue to drag other Apps onto this new folder to add them to it.   Once you are done, click the folder button.

Helpful Hint:  Deleting icons.
To remove an app directly from your iPad, press the icon on the device for the particular app you wish to delete until all of the icons on the screen start to wiggle. Once they are wiggling you will also see the symbol appear in the upper left-hand corner of each icon.  The symbol denotes an app that can be removed from your device. Note how this symbol does not appear on any Apple apps as you are not able to uninstall these.  To delete apps from the iPad, simply tap on the symbol and you will be presented with a screen asking you to confirm that you would like to delete the app.

Helpful Hint:  Quick Scroll

In order to scroll back to the top of the screen, touch the top part of the screen where the time, battery percentage etc are located.  Scrolling down touch the screen and swipe upwards (the quicker the swipe the more it scrolls).
