Using Turning Point Cloud – Clickers

Clickers have been a great tool to quiz students and the software is available in all classrooms.  I have lots of clickers in my cabinet and you don’t have the students sign up if you are doing anonymous polling.  You don’t have to get a license just sign up for a free Instructor account.

Some interesting data –

  1. The class became more active and vibrant
  2. Students became less passive
  3. Absenteeism was reduced
  4. Students seemed to like the addition of clickers
  5. More students were able to share their ideas with the whole class, promoting an emphasis on explaining and listening to reasoning. Students were also better able to hear their classmates.”

The webinar was called Cool Tools!

I know sometimes my job does require that I do something “cool” and this week it was attending a webinar on “Cool Tools” so I figured for the next few blogs I would share a few that were highlighted!

Clickers are always a fun way to engage students but if you forgot to pick them up from my office here is a way to still have that same experience.  Socrative is “smart student response system that empowers teachers to engage their classrooms through a series of educational exercises and games via smartphones, laptops and tablets!”
