Welcome to the Applied Linguistics, Teacher Education & Community Engagement Research Laboratory of Foreign Languages and Literatures Department at East Carolina University! A change in leadership in 2016 came with exciting new projects!
The purpose of the Applied Linguistics, Teacher Education & Community Engagement Research Lab is two-fold. First, it serves to provide resources with which to conduct and analyze empirical research on first and second languages, language learning, language teaching, and engagement with Spanish-speaking populations. Second, under the mentorship of the lab’s co-directors, the lab offers research opportunities and training (in data collection and coding, for example) to both graduate and undergraduate students alike, in order to foster their development of research skills.
