A group of students in Dr. Christy Ashley’s Marketing Strategy class were chosen to take part in a National Marketing Competition along with 19 other universities through EdVenture Partners. The competition is to create a campaign for the 2012 Honda Civic Coupe. The class competition doubles as an internship for the students as they divide the class into six departments, including; finance, advertising, research, campaign strategy, reports, and public relations departments.
The program is designed to give students a unique, real-world business experience by asking them to design and implement an integrated marketing communications plan. “I am honored to be a part of a hard working group of students at ECU that are striving to make this a successful event. It is an incredible experience that I will never forget,” said Kelly MacDade, Agency Coordinator.
The class has held several on-campus events for the campaign including a logo design event, and a graffiti wall. The class will also be holding a “Do You Field Day” on April 4th from 1pm – 4pm at North Campus Recreational Complex.
Winning campaigns will be announced in May and may be implemented by American Honda Motor Company. The student group could win $5,000 if they place first in the competition. EdVenture Partners will award $500 to ECU regardless of the outcome.
