Sep 18, 2014: Major Bash at the Brickyard at Mendenhall Student Center

Major Bash at the Brickyard (formerly Connect at the Cupola) is an academic welcome component of the Plunge into Purple events designed to provide students the opportunity to engage with deans, faculty, academic advisors, and academic resource representatives. Event takes place at the Mendenhall Brickyard.

The College of Education will have several representatives on site to help answer your questions and meet key key players!

If you are interested in participating in a cohort-structured program to earn your Master in School Administration (MSA) or Principal Licensure Add-On Program (Must have Masters Degree) please plan to attend an information meeting sponsored by the Wake County Public School System and the Department of Educational Leadership at East Carolina University.

You may choose to attend one of the following information sessions to learn more about this exciting opportunity to be provided in the WCPSS with ECU!

Sep 23, 2014: Faculty/Staff Professional Development: Quickly and Effectively Grading Exams and Assignments in Blackboard at Speight Building

Did you know that you are probably spending a lot more time grading in Blackboard then you really need to? This session will cover some features that can be used to your advantage when grading tests, especially essay type questions. We will also talk about creating rubrics and using them to grade assignments, discussions, and more. This session is designed as a hands-on class, so please bring a laptop, and a class to work in.

Join the ECU Gifted Team for a half day professional development conference related to all things Gifted. Ian Byrd of byrdseed.com will be the keynote speaker. Breakout sessions focusing on Problem Based Learning, Technology Integration, Creativity, and Differentiation will be delivered.

Sep 30, 2014: Faculty/Staff Professional Development: Social Media Tools at Speight Building

This workshop will cover a few online tools to help faculty engage with their students outside of the classroom. It will look at Hootsuite, Tweetdeck and a few other programs that enable faculty to interact with students via social media and text.

Oct 4, 2014: College of Education Homecoming Celebration at Speight Building

Join the College of Education for refreshments before the ECU Homecoming Parade. Alumni, students, faculty, friends, and family are welcome.

The event will take place on the porch of the Speight Building and is free to attend. The event start time will be determined once the homecoming football game time is announced.
