Dr. Daniel Dickerson Represents ECU on Fulbright Commission Panel Addressing STEM Study Abroad Partnerships with the Czech Republic

Dr. Daniel Dickerson, associate professor in the Department of Mathematics, Science, and Instructional Technology Education and ECU STEM CoRE (Collaborative for Research in Education) Co-Director, is among a small group of scholars from across the United States selected to sit on a Fulbright Commission sponsored STEM Expert Panel to address university faculty from across the Czech Republic regarding STEM study abroad possibilities. CAEP Prep: Pirate CODE Innovations

The ECU College of Education is one of several teacher education institutions nationwide to receive approval from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) to implement a transformation initiative (TI) called Pirate CODE (Continuum of Developing Expertise) as the framework for its spring 2015 National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) accreditation visit. CAEP Prep: NCATE-Legacy Transformation Initiative

ECU’s accreditation cycle was extended by one year – from Spring 2014 to Spring 2015 – when our Transformation Initiative (TI) was approved. As a result, ECU was allowed to complete this accreditation visit under the old NCATE Standards, not the newly approved CAEP Standards. As a result, ECU is hosting an NCATE-Legacy Transformation Initiative accreditation visit. Graduate Students Hold Book Drive for Belvoir Elementary School

Presentations Related to Gifted and Talented Education Given at National Convention

Dr. Lori Flint chaired a discussion in Philadelphia at AERA entitled, “Psychosocial Topics in Giftedness, Creativity and Talent,” on April 7th. She presented a second session later that week at the CEC convention called, “Learning From Experience: How Studying Chronic Underachievers Helps Us Help Our Children,” on April 10th, also in Philadelphia.  Both sessions were related to her primary research interests of giftedness, talent development, and creativity. Dr. Flint also currently serves on the Board of the North Carolina Association for Gifted and Talented.
