12 ECU players all-conference

IRVING, Texas — East Carolina had 12 players named to All-Conference USA football teams, according to the league office.
Headlining the selections was first-team sophomore receiver Justin Hardy.Hardy ranks second in C-USA in receptions per game 6.92 and third in receiving yards per contest 87.17.He has 10 touchdowns.
On the second team, East Carolina had running back Vintavious Cooper, offensive lineman Will Simmons, defensive lineman Michael Brooks, linebacker Derrell Johnson and Hardy as a punt returner. Receiving honorable mention nods were quarterback Shane Carden, offensive lineman Adhem Elsawi, defensive lineman Lee Pegues, linebacker Jeremy Grove, defensive back Damon Magazu, kicker Warren Harvey and punter Trent Tignor.
• East Carolina outside linebacker Montese Overton was named to the C-USA All-Freshman Team.
Softball
East Carolina: Courtney Crews was named volunteer assistant coach, according to coach Beth Keylon-Randolph. Crews will work with the catchers.
