How much face time East Carolina University student Arlie Honeycutt gets in Saturday’s Miss America Pageant could depend on how much time her fans spend on Facebook today.
Online voting for the pageant, which will be broadcast live on ABC, ends at 11:59 p.m. today. The Miss America contestant who receives the highest number of online votes will be chosen as a finalist for Saturday’s competition.
Honeycutt, 20, the former Miss Kinston-Lenoir, was crowned Miss North Carolina in June 2012. Though the Garner native had to take the year off from her vocal performance studies at ECU, she maintains a love for the area.
Apparently, the feeling is mutual. In the week that she has spent in Las Vegas preparing for the pageant, Honeycutt said she has received a number of encouraging messages from supporters from eastern North Carolina.
“Really throughout my entire year as Miss North Carolina I have felt so fortunate to be so supported by the Greenville community,” she said. “I feel very loved and very, very blessed to have this community behind me.”

The pageant will be broadcast at 9 p.m. Saturday on ABC.
