East Carolina University has found a way to remember and honor students who died while going to their school.

ECU officials will unveil and dedicate a student memorial garden at noon today.

Due to weather, the ceremony will be held in the Cynthia Lounge in Mendenhall Student Center.

Weather permitting, officials said they may be able to go outside for the unveiling.

The memorial is located on east campus, between the Erwin Building and Ledonia Wright Cultural Center.

ECU student Donald “Trey” Martin III designed the memorial, which includes a 12-foot tall bronze sculpture. Martin won a campus-wide vote on the memorial last spring.
