East Carolina University could announce a new athletics director as soon as Wednesday, and sources say ECU has picked Northern Illinois’ Jeff Compher.

According to the Huskie Wire, Compher, a 53-year-old native of Baltimore, MD, will replace Terry Holland, ECU’s previous athletic director.

Compher had been the athletic director at Northern Illinois for five years. Prior to that, he served almost four years as the associate athletic director at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Compher has ties to North Carolina. From 2000 to 2004, he served as the athletics director at Western Carolina University. Compher was also the assistant athletic director at N.C. State from 1986 to 1992.
