HICKORY, N.C. — The Public Art Commission invites everyone to the dedication of a new sculpture, “Convergence,” in Carolina Park, near the Women’s Resource Center. The new sculpture was purchased by the city’s Public Art Commission earlier this year.

“Convergence” is the work of sculptor Carl Billingsley of Ayden. Billingsley has been sculpting for more than 35 years and has taught at East Carolina University in Greenville since 1986.

“Convergence” is an iron casting. It is the fourth sculpture purchased by the PAC since 2012.

The dedication will occur on site at the Carolina Park at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30.

Sculptor Joel Urutty has created another piece of art, “L odola,” which is tentatively scheduled to be sited at Carolina Park.
