Kevin Ray Ousley, 57, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2014. Memorial service will be at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Kevin was born in Erwin to Carol Beth Ousley and Stacy R. Ousley, who preceded him in death. He had three brothers, Michael M. Ousley, Dion B. Ousley, and Christopher S. Ousley. It was an incredibly strong family that always made everyone feel welcome in their lives.
Kevin left home after high school and joined a motorcycle club, beginning his love for the motorcycle lifestyle. Later, he decided to go to college and studied hard to get his masters degree in Sociology. He became an instructor and an academic advisor at East Carolina University and touched hundreds of student’s lives. He enjoyed working with them and telling them stories of his true and wild past.
Kevin had multiple passions in his life including a love for motorcycles, fixing anything with wheels, going to Indian Beach to surf, teaching, skydiving, watching NASCAR, playing with his hounds, Boudreaux and Kimmee, and sleeping on the couch with his cats, Bella, Allie, Matilda and Frankie.
He met his wife, Kara, in Greenville 22 years ago and married her in 1997. They were a perfect team and did everything together. Kevin and Kara loved meeting people and always tried to make them feel as if they were part of their own family.
Kevin is survived by his wife Kara Ousley; and his three brothers, Michael and wife, Kay, Dion and Chris; and nephew, Michael. Kevin will be deeply missed. He was a kind and giving spirit and friend to all.
The family will receive friends at their home after the service. As is the Ousley way, any and all are welcome to come.
