Osterfeuer and Scholarship opportunities

I hope you’ll mark your calendars for two big events in April, the Osterfeuer (13 April) and the Musikabend (25 April). –Deutschklub
3-4 pm, FLL lounge, Wednesday, 26 March: games, conversation, films, music! [GERM 1001-1002 learners are hosted & mentored by more advanced students]
The FLL Lounge is located in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, third floor Bate.

LOOKING AHEAD

–Sunday, 13 April, 4-7 p.m.: Osterfeuer, River Park North.

–Friday, 25 April: Musikabend, 6pm-?. Please mark your calendars to join us for an evening of music (Brahms, Bach, …), performed by our students! Details forthcoming.

FUNDING
–Applications for the German Studies Priority Fund and Fleming-Perry Scholarship must be submitted by email to Prof. Smith by 5 p.m. tomorrow, *Monday, 24 March.* Students applying for either or both of these opportunities will receive confirmation of receipt by 9 p.m. Monday (24 March). If an applicant doesn’t receive confirmation of receipt, he or she needs to contact Prof. Smith by 9 a.m. the next morning (Tuesday) at the latest.

Students, you may apply for both awards if you meet the criteria. The application instructions are attached.

DELTA PHI ALPHA (DPA)
–Nominations for DPA, the National German Honor Society, will be accepted until 5 p.m. this Friday, March 28. Faculty will nominate new members, but students, you may nominate yourself for consideration, and we encourage you to do so if you meet the following requirements:

* A minimum of two years of college or university German or their equivalent
* A minimum average of B+ or its equivalent in German courses
* A minimum cumulative average of B- or its equivalent
* Indication of continued interest in the study of German language and literature
