SACS Assessment Coordinator

From 2004 through 2009 and from 2012 to the present day, Dr. Kerbs has chaired the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Assessment Committee in the Department of Criminal Justice at ECU.   His responsibilities included the following:

  • Supervised all administrative aspects of the BSCJ, MSCJ, and Forensic Science Assessments
  • Developed assessment instruments for both BSCJ and MSCJ Programs
  • Implemented all assessments in the fall and spring of each academic year
  • Collected and analyzed all data from annual assessments
  • Wrote all BSCJ, MSCJ, and Forensic Science Assessment Plans for each academic year
  • Wrote all BSCJ, MSCJ, and Forensic Science Assessment Reports for each academic year
  • Developed steps for curricular and programmatic improvement when assessments identified deficiencies in the BSCJ Program, the MSCJ program (i.e., in-residence and distance education MSCJ Programs) and the Forensic Science Program.
  • Coordinated with departmental-, college-, and university-level administrators regarding all Assessment Plans, Assessment Reports, and efforts to remediate deficiencies at the programmatic and departmental levels.
  • Provided training (verbal and written instructions as well as oversight) for incoming SACS Assessment Coordinator (2009-2010) and Departmental Chair (2010-2011).
