The Criminal Justice Peer-Tutoring Stat Lab operates every Thursday night from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Pirate Tutoring Center (PTC) in the 2300 wing of the Old Cafeteria Building (near Joyner Library). Individual tutoring sessions with the Lead Tutor (Mr. Ethan Cooper) can also be scheduled on Tuesdays (11:00am to 12:00pm) and Wednesdays (3:00pm to 5:00pm) by calling the PTC’s appointment number at 252-737-3009. Because the lab is staffed with volunteers and resourced with donated materials (textbooks and calculators) from CENGAGE Learning, all peer-tutoring services are available free-of-charge for any student who is registered in Dr. Kerbs’ section(s) of JUST3900. Please use this website to find usable information regarding this term’s peer tutors, the course syllabus for JUST3900, Power Point slides for the entire semester, and materials developed by peer tutors to include helpful Power Point presentations with tips for completing weekly Aplia homework assignments and answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs).
If you go to the PTC for tutoring, please make sure that you sign in with the peer tutors for this class. They will be tracking weekly attendance. While working with peer tutors is not required for students who take JUST3900, studying statistics at the PTC can provide you with structured way of reviewing materials and getting your questions answered in an easy and relatively stress-free environment. These tutors are available to assist you each and every week. If you want to try and raise your grades in this class and/or if you experience difficulty with the course materials, please try working with our designated PTC tutors to maximize your statistical skills and grades.
Finally, please note that the CJ Stat Lab at the PTC is fully equipped with course materials. The PTC has ten new copies of the textbook and ten calculators (i.e., Texas Instruments TI-30XA calculators) that can be checked out for your use at the CJ Stat Lab. Hence, if you forget your book and/or your calculator, you can still visit with PTC tutors and work with these resources. Additionally, if you forget to bring handouts, they are easily downloaded at the PTC from this website and/or from your Blackboard website for JUST3900.
In closing, should you have any questions or concerns about the Peer-Tutoring Stat Lab, please feel free to contact Dr. John Kerbs via email (firstname.lastname@example.org), phone (252-328-5546), or call the Pirate Tutoring Center (252-737-3009).
