  Name: Ms. Aubrey Urwick
Major(s): Criminal Justice
Minor(s): N/A
Year in college: Junior
Career/educational goals:  I would love to work in some sort of Victim’s Advocacy capacity within Law Enforcement and or the Court System. I have considered working for the Sheriff’s Dept. or a Police Dept. and the Guardian Ad Litem Program, as well as pursuing a Master’s in CJ and or attending Law school, to name a few options I’m considering. My love of practically anything Criminal Justice related, from Forensic Science to Criminal Law, leaves my options wide open!
View of how CJ stats fits with career/educational goals:CJ Stats along with Research Methods really taught me the core of research as well as the value of being able to read and comprehend academic research articles, which will be something that I will always need to know, regardless of the capacity. These courses broadened my ability to conduct research and write better, information rich papers. They also have given me the knowledge to be able to study any academic article that interests me and truly be able to understand it.
Reason(s) for working with stat lab:
“I thought I was finished with any sort of Math course!”, I moaned when I found out I had to have Stats…. Little did I know what a journey this class would take me on. I discovered that when I actually applied myself, I actually understood what I was doing! And liked it– it was like this high, once you grasped it, you wanted more! It’s my hope that I can help the next group of CJ stats students discover the exact same feeling of achievement! If I can do it, I know you can!Sometimes you just need someone to put it in layman’s terms. You just can’t quite make the formulas click… and that’s OK! We are here to help with that, because we were right where you are this time last semester,  so we get it! There is NO stupid question! I hope that we can help you out so you can grasp stats and pass it with flying colors! Or at least an A ;-)
Top 3 suggestions for success in JUST3900:
1)  READ THE CHAPTER
2)  Print the Power Points out ahead and BRING THEM TO CLASS!!
3)   PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT! Seriously… you get cheat cards for each test but if you practice enough you find you don’t have to cling to them like a life-line! How’s that for a self-esteem boost?
