Former student Scott (Scooter) Hayes recently released his debut children’s album – Melvil Dewey Library Hip Hop. Melvil Dewey teaches children the importance of libraries in our communities, advocates reading and introduces basic library skills. Scooter’s first single, The Dewey Decimal Rap, has nearly 450,000 hits on YouTube and is being distributed worldwide by McGraw-Hill in 2012. Meanwhile, two of his music videos have been deemed by The Huffington Post as two of the funniest library videos ever. This whole adventure started with a class project for LIBS 6026. Now Scott is doing a summer tour in North Carolina. See http://storyyeller.com/.
