The Elementary Education Master of Arts in Teaching program at East Carolina University is designed for persons who hold an undergraduate degree and who wish to become elementary teachers. The Elementary Education program is nationally recognized for innovation and effectiveness in preparing knowledgeable, informed, professional teachers. This K-6 licensure program prepares candidates to work successfully with students in diverse public school settings.
The goal of the program is to fully prepare individuals who will be effective, inspiring teachers and leaders in their classrooms, their schools, and their profession. The one-year, full-time program consists of 30 semester hours of course work and a 9-hour semester internship during which MAT students work with certified, trained clinical teachers and are supported by program-related university supervisors.
