Middle Grades Education- Math

The MAT in Middle Grades Education degree program is designed for persons with an undergraduate degree in a core content area (sciences, social studies, math, or language arts) who are interested in earning a teaching license and graduate degree in a subject area corresponding to their undergraduate degree in order to teach in grades 6-9. The Middle Grades program is a national award-winning program preparing candidates for an exciting career of teaching young adolescents.  The goal of the program is to develop middle grades teachers who have a strong background in a core content area with advanced, graduate level training in teaching young adolescents. The program seeks to develop middle grades teachers who improve learning for all students through the use of research-based instructional strategies and reflective teacher research practices. The program consists of 39 semester hours of coursework including a year long internship.
