Summer II 1

TCHR 6010 – The Learner and the Learning Environment – Learning theory, motivational theory, and assessment within school environment. Focus on cognitive, affective, and social development of students.

TCHR 6011 – The Teacher and the Teaching Experience – Teaching within school environment. Teaching cycle, teaching as a profession, culture of teaching, and general strategies for instruction.

Fall Semester 1

KINE 6101 – Technology and Assessment for Physical Education Teacher Education – Technology and assessment strategies to support physical education instruction and assessment in K-12 settings.

KINE 6104 – Curriculum and Instruction in Physical Education – Methods of physical education curriculum model delivery that integrate short and long-term planning with creative and effective teaching practices.

KINE 6108 – Analysis of Teaching in Physical Education – P/C: KINE 6104 or permission of instructor. Teaching behavior analysis related to class management, student activity levels, skill feedback, and verbal and nonverbal interactions through the use of systematic and informal observation techniques.

KINE 6110 – Professional Issues in Physical Education Teacher EducationCurrent issues and trends in contemporary K-12 physical education teacher education.

KINE 6323 – Advanced Middle and High School Instruction in Physical EducationAdvanced teaching theories and methodology in secondary school physical education settings that support student learning and assessment.

Spring Semester 1

TCHR 6020 – MAT Classroom ManagementConcurrent internship experience required. P: TCHR 6010, TCHR 6011. Roles and responsibilities of teacher in organizing and managing classroom setting. Approaches to handling discipline problems.

KINE 6024 – MAT InternshipP: TCHR 6010, TCHR 6011. Supervised teaching in appropriate subject and level classroom. Emphasis on reflective decision-making.

Summer I 1

TCHR 6030 – Literacy Development in the Area Classroom – May receive credit for one of READ 5317; TCHR 6030. Development of literacy abilities in content area classrooms. Identification of literacy requisites, evaluation of content area materials, and assessment of student competencies. Development of strategies and teaching materials to enhance learning.

SPED 6000 – Teaching Students with Exceptionalities in the Regular Classroom – Diverse educational needs of children with disabilities in regular classroom. Identification and placement procedures, academic and behavioral strategies, and curriculum and evaluation modifications.
