SCIE 6003 – Advanced Studies in Biological Science for Teachers – Analysis of advanced concepts, principles, and practices in the biological sciences, content-specific learning problems students encounter, and their implications for biological science education.
SCIE 6004 – Advanced Studies in Physical Science for Teachers – Analysis of advanced concepts, principles, and practices in the physical sciences, the content-specific learning problems students encounter, and their implications for physical science education.
SCIE 6320 – Advanced Assessment Methods in Science Education – P/C: SCIE 6310. Survey of contemporary science assessment methods/practices and their application to promote learning for regular, diverse, and special needs students.
SCIE 6030 – Technology in Science Teaching, Learning and Professional Development – Using and evaluating digital technologies to expand science teaching, learning and professional development and to engage students in learning and applying science principles and inquiry practices.
SCIE 6310 – Advanced Methods in Science Teaching and Learning – P: SCIE 6020, SCIE 6030. Analysis and application of standards- and research-based practices to improve science teaching and learning for regular, diverse and special needs students.
Spring Semester 1
TCHR 6020 – MAT Classroom Management – Concurrent internship experience required. P: TCHR 6010, TCHR 6011. Roles and responsibilities of teacher in organizing and managing classroom setting. Approaches to handling discipline problems.
Summer Semester I 1
TCHR 6030 – Literacy Development int he Area Classroom – May receive credit for one of READ 5317; TCHR 6030. Development of literacy abilities in content area classrooms. Identification of literacy requisites, evaluation of content area materials, and assessment of student competencies. Development of strategies and teaching materials to enhance learning.
SPED 6000 – Teaching Students with Exceptionalities int he Regular Classroom – Diverse educational needs of children with disabilities in regular classroom. Identification and placement procedures, academic and behavioral strategies, and curriculum and evaluation modifications.
