The McClammy Counseling and Research Laboratory is an on-campus clinical training facility with individual and group counseling rooms. The McClammy Counseling and Research Laboratory offers free individual, couple and family counseling sessions, and on occasion, we also conduct group counseling programs.
With the exception of the summer break and between semester breaks, the McClammy Counseling and Research Laboratory operates weekdays and evenings throughout the year. Counseling sessions are usually 45-50 minutes in length.
Advanced graduate students from the Counselor Education Program in the College of Education staff the McClammy Counseling and Research Laboratory. These counselor trainees have specialties in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, and Student Affairs and College Counseling.
All sessions are recording using audio or video recording devices, which allows for faculty members to monitor the sessions and provide supervision. A faculty member will provide your counselor (a graduate student) with consultation and suggestions in order to assure an efficient and effective counseling service is being provided to maximize the benefits of counseling.
Mission of the McClammy Counseling & Research Lab:
To serve the East Carolina University Community by providing individual counseling, consultation, group counseling, and outreach focused on connecting student clients to campus and community resources.
