Wanted to curbside you on an inpatient that I saw in mid-November 2012. He was screened for Conn's syndrome due to difficult to control hypertension. The screen was negative but his renin activity was elevated. I'm not sure this means much but I wanted your opinion on whether it merits additional work-up.

Thanks for the question. I noticed the patient had an aldosterone of 1, renin of 6 (elevated) and a low ARR as a result. I also noticed that the patient is taking an ACE inhibitor. If s/he was taking the medication during the test, it would explain why the renin is elevated.
