ECU event to raise cancer awareness

East Carolina University Campus Wellness will celebrate the 5th annual peace.love.pirates.cure cancer awareness event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Student Recreation Center on campus.

The interactive event will provide advice on reducing the risk of cancer and helping friends or family members deal with cancer. Samples of cancer-fighting foods will be available. Community groups will discuss how they are fighting the disease.

The event is co-sponsored by ECU’s Student Health Services, the Leo Jenkins Cancer Center, the American Cancer Society and the ECU Healthy PIRATES. For additional information, contact Georgia Childs at childsg@ecu.edu or (252) 328-5172.
