Do NOT respond to the “Helpdesk Upgrade” phishing scheme

WARNING! A current phishing scheme informs victims that the Help Desk is upgrading servers. It asks you to click on a link for further instructions, then asks you to authenticate with your username and password.  DO NOT LOG IN! This is an attempt to get users to provide their login credentials!  If you have logged in to the site you should change your password IMMEDIATELY to protect your account.

Reminder: ITCS reminds the campus to avoid email scams, hoaxes and phishing schemes circulating on the Internet and warns users NOT to provide their password in response to such emails. Scams purporting to be from East Carolina University, Service Helpdesk, ECU IT, ECU Helpdesk, the Web Master, Webmail, the IRS, Your Financial Institution, etc. are bombarding email mailboxes. Although IronPort blocks the majority of such emails, some scams successfully reach your e-mail mailbox.

NEVER provide personal or sensitive information in response to any unsolicited email. Don’t open unsolicited email attachments. No matter how realistic or enticing the email message, you must remain vigilant in not responding to an email hoax or scam. Just delete it!

I might personally favor Google. Both FB and Google would benefit from it, but we would probably benefit more from Google taking it over. In the case of Google+ it is just a matter of time. Facebook was lucky it didn’t seriously need to compete with something as “good” as facebook, the competition was just lacking a lot of features as well as a global approach.Google+ is excellent to Facebook, but it surely has a bigger challenge to receive popular.Just take a look at VHS and Betamax. Betamax was better but lost due to bad marketing/licensing.Danny recently posted..Black & Decker NPP2018 18-Volt Cordless Electric Pole Chain Saw
