John Palmer receives CREED Award
John Palmer, merchandise manager with Dowdy Student Stores, was recently recognized by the University with the CREED Award.
ECU has a yearly CREED recognition ceremony to honor one faculty member, one staff member, and three students in each of its four pillars of excellence: Integrity, Diversity, Responsibility, and Citizenship. Palmer was one of these award recipients in the category of Citizenship.
Palmer was approached by the Student Health Center, asking for any clearance clothing to provide to victims of sexual assault. Not only did he take on this project for Dowdy Student Stores, but in doing so, he brought in several vendors including Russell and Hanes who donated clothing and undergarments as well. Palmer’s compassion and leadership on this project makes a big difference in the ability of the university to handle these sensitive incidents just a little bit better. Palmer took Customer Service to the next level, helping out those in a time of vulnerability and need.
