Checks for $2788 were presented on Nov. 13 to the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic at the Brody School of Medicine for its Camp Rainbow program and to Riley’s Army, a local childhood cancer support agency.

Board members, physicians, staff and volunteers from each organization were present, along with Dowdy Store Director Bryan Tuten, Associate Director Bob Walker, Merchandise Manager John Palmer, Health Sciences Bookstore Manager Shannon Tillett, and Vice President of Sales for Perfect Promotions Stephen McFadden.

The mission of Riley’s Army is to provide support to children with cancer and their families in Eastern North Carolina. Camp Rainbow is a summer camping experience for children with cancer or hemophilia and their siblings, and is one of the Rainbow Services programs managed by the ECU Brody School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics Hematology and Oncology.

Riley's Army also received a $2788 donation from Dowdy Student Stores and Perfect Promotions. Upon learning that it costs about $1000 to send a child to Camp Rainbow, Stephen McFadden, far right, Perfect Promotions vice president, said he would increase his donation to bring the total of both checks to $3000 in order to guarantee an additional child's camp tuition.
