ECU Dowdy Student Stores and their vendor, Perfect Promotions & More of Apex, presented a check on February 27 for $6,528 to representatives from campus military programs.
The money was raised through sales of “ECU Supports our Military” shirts at ECU Dowdy Student Stores and Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium during the fall semester. A portion of the sale of each shirt was donated by both Dowdy Student Stores and their vendor, Perfect Promotions and More. The amount raised for this shirt was more than any other in the “cause” t-shirt lineup.
Presenting the check were Dowdy Student Stores Director Bryan Tuten, Apparel and Merchandise Manager John Palmer, Associate Store Director Bob Walker, and Perfect Promotions Vice President of Sales Stephen McFadden. Attending to receive the check on behalf of the Distinguished Military Society were Asst. Vice Chancellor for Military Programs Tim Wiseman; Interim Dean of the College of Health and Human Performance Susan McCammon; Lieutenant Colonel Melissa Coleman, Army ROTC; Captain Patrick Higgins, Army ROTC; and Lieutenant Colonel April Wimmer, Air Force ROTC. ROTC students were also in attendance.
Dowdy Student Stores Director Bryan Tuten was pleased with the amount raised this past fall. “The Pirate fans come out for this effort each year,” said Tuten. “We’re proud to be able to feature promotions of this kind to support our military students on campus.”
The University owned and operated bookstores sell shirts benefitting a variety of causes throughout the school year. Past recipients included organizations supporting childhood cancer, breast cancer, autism awareness, ALS, as well as the campus military programs. Perfect Promotions Vice President of Sales Stephen McFadden is an ECU alumnus and he, too is proud to play a role in these efforts.
A t-shirt benefitting the ALS Association is currently on sale at Dowdy Student Stores and Clark-LeClair Baseball Stadium.
