Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 8am-noon

Hours of operation for fall:

Things to know:

  • SHS will have various services to offer at the Health Science location, such as Primary Care (illnesses, injuries, physicals, annual wellness exams, wound care, gynecological visits, birth control services, medication refills) and Nursing Services (immunizations, titers, drug screens, TB skin tests, asymptomatic STI screenings, dressing changes, suture removals).
  • Appointments can easily be made by calling 252-328-6841 or in person. We hope to have online scheduling available soon.
  • Students are encouraged to make an appointment at our main campus clinic for: radiology, colposcopy, allergy injections, sexual assault exams, nutrition appointments, travel immunizations. (Due to space issues, we are unable to offer these services at our Health sciences location). Unsure if we can accommodate your need at the Health Sciences location? Just ask when you call to schedule your appointment.
  • Students who receive prescriptions at their visit can have them sent electronically to their pharmacy of choice. Of course, prescriptions can be sent to our main campus pharmacy if you would like your medications filled by SHS.
  • Students can receive care at either SHS location, regardless of academic program or area of study. SHS does not provide service for alumni, dependents, staff or faculty.
  • Any charges that are due will be charged to the University Cashier, as no money and credit cards will be accepted at the Health Sciences location. We will continue to accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Student Blue (the Student Health Insurance Plan) and MedCost plans as we do at our main campus location.
  • All of our appointment and eligibility policies at main campus Student Health will apply to our location at Health Sciences. These policies include but are not limited to: ECU 1Card required for service, a fee for missed appointments, students arriving 10 minutes or more late will be asked to reschedule, etc. For a list of FAQs about our services, visit http://www.ecu.edu/cs-studentaffairs/studenthealth/about_us/questions.cfm

SHS and CCSD Services in the Summer

banner with the word summer

Now that summer has come, many students are not taking classes but they would still like to utilize Student Health Service (SHS) or the Counseling Center (CCSD). Not in summer school? You may be eligible to still receive care at SHS & CCSD.

Did you just graduate? Congratulations! Due to anti-trust laws, SHS cannot continue to provide your healthcare, but we can 1) help you transfer your records to the office of your choice, 2) provide you with a list of local offices if you need help establishing care outside, or 3) we do have a 2 week grace period following graduation if you need to come in for a follow up of an existing problem (i.e. to get a medication refilled, or to finish up treatment for a particular problem or concern).

If you did not graduate, but are just not taking classes in summer school, you may still be eligible for care at SHS and/or CCSD. In order to qualify for services at SHS/CCSD in the summer when you are not taking classes,

          • you must have been enrolled this past spring AND
          • you must be registered for fall classes

If you meet those criteria, you can be seen at SHS for a special summer fee; services at CCSD are free. The summer fee for SHS is necessary because you are not taking classes for the summer or paying any tuition, so you are not paying the usual health fee.

There are 2 options for paying the summer fee for care at SHS:
Per visit fee $30.00
OR
Need multiple visits? Pay $60.00 for unlimited visits per summer session.

Need care at CCSD? Services are free to students in the summer.

First summer session fees at SHS are charged May 15-June 20.
Second summer session fees at SHS are charged June 21-July 28.

Once summer classes end, the only option for care at SHS is $30 per visit from July 1-August 18. (please note: CCSD’s services may be limited during this period)

Questions?  Call SHS at (252) 328-6841 or CCSD at (252) 328-6661.

Have a healthy summer!

*updated 6/12/2017 to reflect that CCSD no longer charges a summer fee for services.

May Intersession Hours and Fees

image of clock with ecu logo on it

Now that spring semester is coming to a close, Student Health Service has a change in operating hours for the May Intersession period, May 6-14.

Sat/Sun May 6-7: SHS is CLOSED.

Our office is also closed Monday, May 8, for a staff development event and Wednesday, May 10, for a divisional event.

Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (May 9, 11, and 12)* Student Health is open for general administrative business (dropping off forms, requesting medical records, general information) from 7:30am-12noon & 1pm-5pm. Patient care hours (for appointments, dressing changes, pharmacy services, etc) are 1:30pm-4pm daily on Tuesday and Thursday, and 7:30am-11:30am on Friday. Please also note: the Student Health Center building is CLOSED from 12pm-1pm for the lunch hour daily.

Sat/Sun May 13-14: SHS is CLOSED (there are no weekend hours in the summer)

*A visit fee is required during this period to be seen as a patient at SHS. The fee is $30 per visit, in addition to any other charges you may incur during your appointment (lab, pharmacy, xray, etc). The reason there is a visit fee is because during intersession, no student fees are supporting campus services. We are open as a courtesy and convenience to students even when there are no classes, but your tuition and fees do not cover this period of service.

If you need care when SHS is not open, do not forget about our free 24 hour nurse line. Just call our main number below and wait on the line. This service is available to all ECU students.

For more information about our intersession hours or the visit fee for service, call us at (252) 328-6841.
