What I love about ECU

Welcome to the blog page! My name is Jack Prager and I am a Junior here at ECU majoring in Business Administration and concentrating in Finance. If all goes well, I plan to graduate in the Spring of 2013. I started as a blogger for the Admissions office my freshman year, and have continued to do so ever since. It’s been a great way to interact with prospective students and help them with the college decision process.

It’s hard to find students who do not love East Carolina University. This is for many reasons. There is always something going on around campus or in the town of Greenville, including a wide variety of restaurants and entertainment. There are a ton of people to meet wherever you go, yet the school still maintains that “small-school” feeling of comfort. This is great because starting school at a new place can sometimes be overwhelming. Come for a tour and you will see that we have more school spirit here than most places, which was one of my biggest deciding factors when choosing between colleges. A perfect example of this is during football season, when everyone dresses in purple and gold and cheers for the Pirates.

The best thing about ECU is the opportunities that it gives to the students. One of the most important things that you can do at college is take advantage of all the opportunities of getting involved on campus, and ECU has hundreds of different clubs and organizations for just about anything you can imagine. I have been a part of many extracurricular activities over the past 2 years, including Student Activity Board, which is responsible for hosting the entertainment and events at ECU, The Adventure Club, which takes various outdoor trips around the state, and The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, an Honor’s Society. My two most recent accomplishments have been pledging the Professional Business Fraternity here at ECU; Alpha Kappa Psi, and becoming a mentor for the Business Emerging Leaders. Getting involved is a great way to really just put yourself out there and meet as many people as you can.

In my opinion, East Carolina has everything you could want in a school. If you’re interested, definitely schedule a tour and you’ll see how much fun it is here! I know how difficult the college decision process can be, so if anyone has questions about anything I mentioned in this post or just about ECU in general, don’t hesitate to contact me.
