ECU has provided me with so many skills and experiences that I will never forget. I can definitely say that ECU has prepared me for life and I am so proud to call myself a Pirate.

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact, ratified this the 8th day of March. A.D. 1907:

AN ACT TO STIMULATE HIGH SCHOOL INSTRUCTION IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS OF THE STATE AND TEACHER TRAINING – SEC. 11. That there shall be established and maintained at some suitable point in eastern North Carolina a teachers’ training school for the training of young men and women under the corporate name of the East Carolina Teachers’ Training School.

In 1920, East Carolina Teacher’ Training School (ECTTS) became a four-year institution and was renamed East Carolina Teachers College (ECTC). Then, in 1951 we became East Carolina College. And finally, in 1967 the school was renamed to be East Carolina University.

Happy 105th Birthday to the greatest school ever, East Carolina University. I thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to be here.
