Now that I’m rested, I wanted to write a new blog and let you all know how my summer break is coming along. I got home about 10 days ago, and ever since then I have been catching up on all of the sleep that I’ve missed! It has been a great joy just being able to relax and spend time with my family. Although I have tried to be very lazy, I still do work every now and then, especially around the house. But even though it’s summer, I like to go through my stuff and make sure that I have things ready for when the next school year starts. Lol…I get a little bit over-ambitious. But it’s my personality and it is something that helps me relax.
The way my summer breaks have been set up for the past two years, and this year as well, I go home after school ends for about 3 or 4 weeks. That’s just about enough time to come home, get rested, have fun with family and friends and then get back because they’re starting to get on my nerves! Then I come back the first week of June to start working as an Orientation Assistant. So, I will be at ECU for a third summer, and I’m soooo excited and ready for it to get started. We have a week of training and then eight 2-day sessions of Freshman Orientation and one Transfer Student Orientation. As I always say, being an ECU Orientation Assistant has been the best job I’ve ever had. When orientation is over around the middle of July, I go home until it is time to move in for the next school year.
Next week, three of my friends and I are traveling up to D.C. to stay with one of our other friends and see the sights. Also, I plan on visiting University of Maryland, College Park because they have a very good student affairs graduate program. It’s one of the schools that I’m interested in for graduate school. I actually used to live in Gaithersburg, MD when I was in elementary school, so hopefully I’ll get a chance to visit my hometown to find old friends and teachers that I used to see. Sometime in July, I plan on going to Bowling Green, OH to visit Bowling Green State University because it is also where I would like to go for graduate school. Lastly, I’m going to start studying for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), which is a test you have to take and do well on if you plan on attending graduate school, mostly for a master’s degree. That is definitely going to be hard! But I have to start early if I want to get into the school of my choice.
In between all of this, I’m going to try and do my best to get as much sleep as possible and still have fun with all of my friends. I have to make sure I don’t get burnt out with all the work I have to do. But I am definitely excited to be entering into my fourth year of college. Although I have a year and a semester left at ECU, I’m still a senior and my time here is coming to an end. I never thought I would leave ECU, Lol. But enough of that! I’m not leaving yet. SO I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT SUMMER! And if you’re coming to Freshman Orientation, I’LL SEE YOU THERE!!
