The End of ECU Student Orientation

Well…ECU Orientation has finally come to an end. When I first received this job in February 2010, I never knew how much joy would come from it, how many doors would be opened to me and how many lives I could have an impact on. I’ve learned SO MUCH these past 3 summers and it is definitely a bittersweet feeling knowing that I won’t be returning as an OA next summer, but it’s time to move on.

Being an Orientation Assistant is, hands-down, the BEST job I have ever had and, once again, I feel so blessed and highly-favored to have been put in this position to work with and for college students- meet new people, make new friends and do my best to positively affect students’ lives. And for that I thank God. Because without Him, none of this would be possible. Also, I want to thank my awesome ECU Orientation Team 2012 for voting me to be the 2012 Orientation Assistant of the Summer…it is definitely an honor!!! Thank you to Karen Slough Smith…the best boss ever. Thank you for this amazing opportunity! Thank you to my mother, Cynthia C. Davis, who has been with me and had my back every single step of the way. Love you ma! And Mandy Kelly, I wish you were here. I love you and miss you so much!

I have such an extreme passion for ECU, the incoming Pirates and all of the school spirit that takes place and I’m glad I could experience it all through this job. I hope to continue meeting freshman and working to prepare them and their families for their first year in college! Thank you to all the new Pirates coming in for making my orientation experience even better. I feed off of your energy, excitement and passion for ECU as well. SHOUT OUT TO Y’ALL YO!!! And to my group, Louis Cameron’s Orientation Students!

3 Amazing Summers, 3 Unique and Fun Teams, 24 Orientation Sessions, and about 800 students! Thank you to everyone!!!!
