“Busy” is an Understatement

I can’t believe that it’s already Thursday! The week is almost over, and the month of April has just started. It won’t be long before this semester is over; it sure has flown by fast! After a relaxing Spring Break, it was time for me to get back into “school & work” mode, and I’ve been busy ever since!

After my Thursday night class two weeks ago, I traveled to New Bern to participate in my friend’s wedding as her maid-of-honor for the weekend. The ceremony was beautiful despite the fact that the weather was chilly, but at least we didn’t see any rain! That same weekend on Friday my service sorority, Gamma Sigma Sigma, held an event downtown (“Boot Scoot for Babies”) to raise money for the March of Dimes. The ECU Ambassadors also held their annual Special Populations Prom that Saturday. There was so much going on that weekend! Even though I couldn’t be present at all three events, it makes me so proud that the organizations I’m involved in on campus are so active. There is definitely never a dull moment here at ECU!

This current week was just as busy for me as the one before! I’ve been busy giving tours to prospective students who have been visiting our campus during their Easter/Spring break. I was also helping my service sorority raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project by teaming up with Delta Sigma Phi and using their house to host a spaghetti dinner on Tuesday. Though this week is almost over, it doesn’t mean that there isn’t more for me to do! Saturday is a huge day for all of us in Admissions and in ECU Ambassadors. ECU will host its Spring Open house that day beginning at 9am and we are expecting that at least 4,000 prospective students will be visiting us! Open House is an awesome experience, especially when you remember your first time visiting campus and now you find yourself on the other side guiding potential Pirates around their (hopefully!) future home!

Well, I’ve got to catch up on some homework now and do a tour later. Before signing out, I’d like to give a HUGE shout-out to our Men’s Basketball for winning their first post-season tournament ever! I’m so excited for our coach and the future of our program; it definitely makes me proud to be a Pirate! 🙂

My name is Christine Barker and I'm in my 2nd year in the MBA program within the College of Business. I plan to graduate with my MBA and a Health Care Management certificate in May 2014. I am a huge ECU fan and I love the Pirates! I graduated from ECU in 2012 with a BA in Chemistry and a BS in Biology with a minor in Business Administration. I am a graduate assistant in the College of Business Graduate Programs office and I give campus tours for the Undergraduate Admissions office. I am also a member of the ECU Ambassadors, a service organization under the ECU Alumni Association. I plan on applying to pharmacy school this summer and hopefully I will start after I graduate in May from ECU. I haven't decided where I want to go yet, but I am hoping to stay in-state. In my free time, I like to spend time with my friends here in Greenville. I also enjoy riding my bike on the greenway and being outdoors. Follow me @phuturepharmECU
