Springtime at ECU
Well, it’s already the middle of April and springtime weather has finally arrived at ECU! Though final exams are upon us at ECU, it doesn’t mean that there isn’t time to squeeze in a few outdoor events to satisfy and cure our “Spring Fever!”
This past weekend, I attended the 7th Annual PirateFest in Uptown Greenville. The sun was shining and the weather was gorgeous! Local restaurants such as Sup Dogs and Winslow’s were serving delicious food, local bands performed live music, and local vendors were everywhere selling merchandise. Some very spirited citizens of Greenville even donned their best Pirate gear in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most people dressed as pirates in one place (eye patches, fake parrots, the whole nine yards!). I ended up meeting a Finance professor in the College of Business who sells jewelry on the side and purchased a bracelet full of purple & gold charms; it’s definitely a nice addition to all the ECU paraphernalia that I already own!
This weekend will be full of fun activities as well! On Saturday at 6:30 in the morning (!) I will be volunteering at the 6th Annual Pirate Alumni Road Race & Fun Run. Aftwerwards, I’ll be attending the Purple-Gold Pigskin Pig-Out at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium with a few friends. I will also be attending Doggie Jams at Sup Dogs later that afternoon for great food and live music. I’m looking forward to having an awesome weekend!
Next Thursday is our annual Barefoot on the Mall from 2pm-8pm. Lauren Alaina, who was a runner-up on American Idol, will be headlining the show! Barefoot on the Mall is basically a big field day for college students; there is always live music chosen by the student vote, free t-shirts and games. Attending Barefoot on the Mall is a great way to relax and kick back before final exams begin on May 2nd!
I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather we are having today, by the way! I’ll be sure to keep you updated about exams and the end of the semester. Good luck to everyone!
