It finally feels like fall here in Greenville and even though I am not a fan of the cold I have to admit I love the way campus looks with the fallen leaves everywhere. It’s also the perfect weather to go for walks or runs on the greenway (which is easily accessible for freshman since it is walking distance from all the dorms). Since this Saturday the football game was away it gave me enough time to start making my Halloween costumes! Halloween is a big event at ECU and lasts from Thursday to Saturday (I even saw some groups of people dressed up this past weekend!). There is so much to do on or off campus to celebrate Halloween. The on campus events last from the 23rd-31st and are all a part of what ECU calls “Halloweek”.
This past week I attended a few on campus events not related to Halloween. For our summer reading we were required to read the book “It Happened On The Way To War” by Rye Barcott and this week all ECU students had the opportunity to attend a speaking by Rye Barcott in Wright Auditorium along with a book signing afterward. His stories were extremely interesting and although Rye is a proud Tarheel we had him participating in our famous “purple, gold” chant before his presentation was over. On Thursday I attended a BBQ fundraiser hosted by the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, which was a lot of fun and was a great way to socialize and meet new people.
