ECU’s 18th Annual Polar Bear Plunge!

IMG_6415

It’s that time of year again; it’s time for ECU’s 18th annual Polar Bear Plunge!  This is one of the most popular events at ECU and has been around since 1997!

Starting off with only 35 participants, the Student Recreational Center now has over 1000 students come take a plunge into the frigid cold waters of the outdoor pool.  This event is scheduled for Thursday night, Jan. 24 and will be a site to see!  I don’t know about you, but you won’t catch me outside in a bikini with snow on the ground, but I will definitely be on the sidelines cheering on my fellow Pirates!

This is a great pirate tradition to be a part of, and definitely a very memorable one.  This is also the first year since I’ve been at ECU that there is actually snow on the ground during the event, which will make that jump even colder!

So go checkout the Student Affairs event page for their promo video and more information on this ice-cold tradition.  Do you think you have what it takes to take the plunge with your fellow Pirates?
