Spring Open House!

Spring Open House 2014-SampleSome conversation in the admissions office this morning got me thinking about when I was going through the admission process with East Carolina. I had been accepted to multiple universities and I was having a hard time making the decision of where to attend. Although I loved ECU from what I had read and seen on the Internet, because I am from Connecticut I really had no idea if the campus would be somewhere I could call home for the next 4 years.

To aid my college decision I came to East Carolina’s open house. The spring open house is where I really fell in love with the university and what led my decision to attend ECU. It was my first and last college tour.

I encourage you to attend the spring open house where you have the opportunity take a walking or bus tour of campus, as well as tour multiple neighborhoods and residence halls, and see what East Carolina is all about. Admitted students can download a guidebook  (PDF) online which will introduce students to campus life, including the campus’ neighborhoods, residence halls, and campus dining.  The guidebook can be extremely helpful in familiarizing yourself with the campus and helping you make major admissions decisions. The spring open house will provide hands on experience with the campus. During your enrollment process you will have to decide what residence hall to live in, which is a major decision. During the open house you will get to go on neighborhood and residence hall tours to see where you best fit in.

During my open house I felt most at home on College Hill, because I loved the fun, laid back atmosphere and its close access to a Subway restaurant and a gym. West End and Central Campus also have a lot to offer a new student and choosing your neighborhood is a very personal decision. During open house you will also get to see all of the campus dining selections including a few of my favorites, Einstein Bagels, Chili’s, and the new Starbucks in Joyner Library.

Hope to see you there!
