Hi everyone and happy spring! As the weather is warming up (sort of) there are lots of fun opportunities on campus for students. Last week I attended the spring career fair. The career fair is open to students of all ages and all majors. It is great for seniors looking to land jobs after graduation and also for students looking for internships. As a student in the College of Business, I have had it drilled into my head over the last 4 years that one of the main tools that enhances success is your networking. As a senior, I will testify that your ability to network and the connections you make throughout college will help to determine your success after college. I encourage all of you to start early, even if you don’t know what you want to do! Even if you are not looking for an internship or a job currently, the campus career fairs are great to attend to make connections and practice talking to potential employers.
The career fair is set up in Minges Coliseum, on the basketball court. The career fair has a lot to offer for students aside from networking with potential employers. They offer the opportunity to have professional head shots taken, have your resume critiqued, and offer tips for interview success.
As a finance student looking for a job when I graduate in May, the career fair this semester was very important for me. I am happy to announce that through the connections I made at the career fair, I have secured interviews with two major employers, Target and BB&T.
