Southeast Regional Seminar in African Studies
The Southeast Regional Seminar in African Studies will hold its fall 2013 conference, “Africa and the Atlantic World,” from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, September 28, in the Leo Jenkins Fine Arts Center.
SERSAS invites all faculty, graduate students and advanced undergraduate students to attend conference sessions and the keynote address, “Becoming an African American,” to be presented by Dorothy Redford of Somerset Place. Special exhibitions of ECU’s African art collection will be on display in the Jenkins’ galleries during the conference.
Co-sponsors of the event include the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences, African and African American Studies Program, Atlantic World Program, Department of History, Ledonia Wright Culture Center, School of Art and Design, School of Music, Zamba Yarwar, Student Stores, Phi Alpha Theta, Invisible Children, ONE and the African Students Organization.
