Modifying Settings

How to change Site Title:

  1. Login to WordPress using your ECU Pirate ID and your ECU Password from the following URL:  http://blog.ecu.edu/sites .
  2. Click the “Dashboard” Dropdown button.
  3. Then click on “My Sites.”
  4. Now identify the site you would like to edit and click on the “Dashboard” link below the site name that you wish to make changes too.
  5. Locate and click on “Settings” found at the bottom of the left hand page.
  6. This will bring you to the “General Settings” page.
  7. In the “Site Title” box, you can change the name of the blog.
  8. Once finished scroll to the bottom and click “Save Changes.”

How to Direct your Front Page to another Page:

  1. Login to WordPress using your ECU Pirate ID and your ECU Password from the following URL:  http://blog.ecu.edu/sites .
  2. Click the “Dashboard” Dropdown button.
  3. Then click on “My Sites.”
  4. Now identify the site you would like to edit and click on the “Dashboard” link below the site name that needs changes.
  5. Locate the “Settings” drop down pane at the bottom of the left hand corner panel.
  6. Click on “Settings“
  7. Under the drop down pane for settings click on the sub-category “Reading“
  8. This will bring you to the page for “Reading Settings“
  9. Under the section for “Front Page Displays“, click on the check box (bubble) for “A static page“
  10. Use the drop down box to choose which page you would like to use as your homepage.
  11. Remember to scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Save Changes“

How to Change Discussion Settings

These settings deal with comments, emails received from comments, and comment moderation/blacklist, etc.

  1. Login to WordPress using your ECU Pirate ID and your ECU Password from the following URL:  http://blog.ecu.edu/sites .
  2. Click the “Dashboard” Dropdown button.
  3. Then click on “My Sites.”
  4. Now identify the site you would like to edit and click on the “Dashboard” link below the site name that needs changes.
  5. Locate the “Settings” menu located at the bottom of the left hand panel.
  6. Click “Settings” to enable the drop down menu.
  7. Click “Discussion.”
  8. This will bring you to a page that will have a series of check boxes and categories. Choose which setting you would like enabled or disabled.
  9. Be sure to read what each setting references.
  10. You may enable/disable setting by clicking the check box.
  11. Remember to save by scrolling to the bottom of the page. Click “Save Changes.”

How to Change the Privacy Settings

This is in reference to site availability.

  1. Login to WordPress using your ECU Pirate ID and your ECU Password from the following URL:  http://blog.ecu.edu/sites .
  2. Click the “Dashboard” Dropdown button.
  3. Then click on “My Sites.”
  4. Now identify the site you would like to edit and click on the “Dashboard” link below the site name that needs changes.
  5. Locate the “Settings” menu located at the bottom of the left-hand panel.
  6. Click “Settings” to enable the drop down menu.
  7. Click “Privacy.”
  8. This will bring you to the Privacy Settings menu page.
  9. There will be a list of 5 different privacy options to choose from. Read the instructions carefully and choose the best option for your blog preference.
  10. Select that option and click “Save Changes.”

How to Change the Maximum Size of Embedded Video/Media/Images

  1. Login to WordPress using your ECU Pirate ID and your ECU Password from the following URL:  http://blog.ecu.edu/sites .
  2. Click the “Dashboard” Dropdown button.
  3. Then click on “My Sites.”
  4. Now identify the site you would like to edit and click on the “Dashboard” link below the site name that needs changes.
  5. Locate the “Settings” menu located at the bottom of the left hand panel.
  6. Click “Settings” to enable the drop down menu.
  7. Click “Media.”
  8. This will bring you to the “Media Settings” menu.
  9. Under the first category (Image Size) here you will be able to adjust the dimensions in pixels of the size of the images you wish to upload.
  10. Next, by using the category “Embeds,” you will also be able to change the size of videos such as from Flickr or YouTube.
  11. Remember to save by clicking “Save Changes.“
