On February 3rd, 48 ECU student-athletes, from a variety of sports, participated in the annual Give Kids a Smile event held at Eastern Pediatrics and Orthodontics in Greenville, NC. Give Kids a Smile is a program that was started 10 years ago by the American Dental Association (ADA). Each year on the first Friday in February, thousands of the nation’s dentists and their dental team members provide free oral health care services to children from low-income families across the country. Our student-athletes were there to comfort the kids while they were meeting with the dentists. For some of the kids, this was their first time seeing a dentist. The kids enjoyed socializing with the student-athletes and receiving balloon animals from a clown. It was a great day filled with great energy and lots of smiling faces from everyone involved.
Great job, pirates!!!

On Wednesday, February 8th, 5 ECU Football players: Michael Brooks, Ty Holmes, Chrishon Rose, Leroy Vick, and Joe Womack attended the Special Olympics of Pitt County’s annual Valentine’s Day party. The event was held at C.M. Eppes Middle School where the players socialized with Greenville’s special needs population. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the players showed some love by showing off their dance moves, taking pictures, and partaking in a party train around the dance floor. The participants definitely felt the love from the players as it is evident in the pictures. The football players were offered many thanks and signs of appreciation throughout the night for their attendance.

They had the chance to meet with the members of SAAC, play games, decorate cookies, eat pizza, and received a gift. The party was a success and every child had a huge smile on their faces when they left.
