The main goal of the research conducted in the Social Communication and Neuroscience Lab (SCONE) is to advance communication science research including the development of successful clinical tools and programs. We use behavioral paradigms, eye tracking, electrophysiology, and brain stimulation to explore how humans modify speech to facilitate comprehension and how they understand nonliteral language and social intentions. Ultimately, these investigations support a richer understanding of how our minds manage to make sense of and enjoy one of the most uniquely human behaviors.
